Sunday the 21st of December when we got home from church...the sickness began. Two kids coughing that deep deep hacking cough. Then the fevers began. First Madison and then Case. I got them into the doctor on Monday and Madison had a double ear infection but Case was doing okay. So off to Walgreen's to get the antibiotic and back home. Luckily the Christmas shopping was done or I would have been in big trouble. I was hoping to go out to dinner with my hubby that night as it was our 7th anniversary, but that would have to wait. You can't get a babysitter with sick kids.
Tuesday was a stay at home day. Two sick kids on the couch switching from Motrin to Tylenol and back to Motrin...whatever would work to keep the fevers down. Madison was perking up quickly, but Case was going downhill fast.
Wednesday, Wes's parents and sisters family came by in the morning. It was good to see Brittany and her family who were visiting from Idaho. Case and Madison love to play with their cousins. We did our gift exchange with his parents and as always they spoiled us. The kids were thrilled with their gifts, especially the book written by Verna about her and Chris to their grandchildren. Of course I teared up and Wes laughed at all of the funny things about their childhood. We will cherish it.
Then it was off to the white mountains to spend Christmas with Mom and Paul. The kids were a bit whiney because of sickness, but perked right up when it was present time. Again we were all spoiled and loved all of our gifts. After all the time I spent agonizing over what to get the kids they both loved the presents from Grandma and Grandpa the best. It was fun to have a very white Christmas, but I only like looking at it. Luckily we did not have to go anywhere and just spent time enjoying each other and wiping runny noses.

We came home on Saturday and had only a few days to recover. Monday night Wes and I did go out to dinner to celebrate our anniversary. Thanks to Chris and Verna for staying with the kids. I am so lucky to be blessed with the best hubby. I love him so much and I am so grateful for how well he takes care of me and our kids.On Tuesday we were off on another road trip...this time San Diego. We got settled in on Tuesday night and then on Wednesday the 31st we were off to Legoland to celebrate Case's birthday. What a great place for us to take the kids. Case was tall enough for all of the rides and Madison only missed a few. Good thing for tall kids. Case loved all of the rides, but I think the last roller coaster was a bit much for him. Madison is a wild woman and has no fear. She went on the first roller coaster with Wes and it does two loops. On the second loop Wes looked over and saw that she had her hands in the air. Wes asked what she was doing and she pointed to the people in front of them and said "no hands dad". What a kick she is. They gave each of the kids New Years Eve bags with horns and glow stick and special Lego's. The fireworks started at 6:30 which were fabulous. We were back at the condo early and watched a movie and went to bed at a reasonable hour.

On New Years Day, Wes took us to La Jolla to look at the seals and then down south to see the tide pools and the lighthouse. We then went to the Old Town San Diego area and went to our favorite Mexican restaurant. Yum Yum. After that we went down to Seaport village and walked down to where all the ships are. We then headed back to the condo. What a great family day we had. The next morning we went to the local beach and walked up and down dodging the tide and picking up sea shells. We found some really great ones. Then we packed up and headed home. It was a quick trip but it was filled with family fun. A special thanks to Wes for taking us all around and taking great care of us.

Now we are back to our normal grind. Case is back in school and loving it as usual. Wes is back at work. Christmas is all put away and Madi and I are back in our routine.
To end this long blog entry we do have a wonderful surprise. We are expecting baby #3 in July. We have been planning this for a while and are so excited to share our news. We should know in about a month what we are having.
